WARDOGS Economy Guide — Managing Your $10,000
WARDOGS is an FPS with a persistent bank account: you start with $10,000, your cash survives between matches, and every death is a spending decision. This guide turns the money mechanics into a management strategy — what to earn with, what to spend on, and how to never run broke.
How Money Flows
- Every player starts with $10,000 and the balance persists between matches.
- Income comes from almost everything: kills, assists, spotted targets, driving, flying, building — even players spawning on your APC pays you.
- Spending is per life: weapons, attachments, gear and vehicles are bought each life you use them.
- Layered weapon costs: a one-time unlock fee, then a per-life purchase, then magazines and ammo priced per caliber.
- Two markets: the black market and gold market sell gear at prices that shift with the meta.
Income Routes, Ranked
Not all money is equal. The routes below are ranked by how reliably they pay without requiring you to win gunfights — the community-verified "support roles pay" principle from the classes page.
| Rank | Route | Why it pays |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Supply pallet loop (Driver/Pilot) | Truck or helicopter runs from HQ to the FOB pay per crate — pilot pallet drops are the highest single XP action confirmed (~750 XP), and a builder loading the pallet pays you extra. Repeatable all match. |
| 2 | Spotted-kill assists (Recon) | One of the fastest money-makers in the game: tag enemies from high ground, and every teammate’s kill on your tag pays you without firing a shot. |
| 3 | APC spawning income (Driver) | Every player who spawns on your APC pays you — park it well and it is passive income all match. |
| 4 | Building & repairing (Support) | Hammer hits pay XP and cash; repairs are cheaper than rebuys and feed Support progression. |
| 5 | Kills & captures (Assault) | The classic route — highest ceiling, highest variance, and the most expensive in kit costs per attempt. |
The takeaway: the fastest early income is logistics, not fragging. A player who runs pallets for twenty minutes funds a full-kit Assault phase; a player who buys a FAL every life on a cold streak funds nothing.
Kit Tiers: What to Buy at Each Balance
Prices below are the verified launch numbers from the weapons database; the tier framing is the community budget consensus.
| Tier | Example kit | Per-life cost | When to run it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | T-21 ($600) + rifle ammo | ~$630–$650 | Below ~$15,000 banked, or any time you are learning a map. The T-21 is nearly every list’s best-value gun. |
| Mid | M4 ($2,800) + ammo + light gear | ~$3,000–$3,500 | The workhorse tier — the M4 is the consensus best all-rounder and keeps you above the reserve line. |
| Full | FAL ($6,500) or PKM ($4,500) + ammo + gear | ~$5,000–$8,000 | Only when you can afford to lose it twice. The FAL is S-tier and expensive to lose — exactly the trade-off. |
| Free | Free starters (A-91, M17S, KH-2002) | $0 + ammo | The recovery kit: semi/burst only, but it costs nothing and rebuilds your balance. |
The $12,000–$16,000 Reserve Rule
Community advice: keep roughly $12,000–$16,000 banked — about two full loadouts. Below $12,000, a single bad life can put you on free starters; above $16,000, the extra cash could be funding vehicles, unlock fees or a market purchase. Use the loadout calculator to check any kit against this line in two clicks.
The New Recruit Window (Below Level 9)
Everything is 50% off below WARDOG Level 9 — and the discount is permanently lost once you pass it. This is the cheapest the game will ever be for you, and the community consensus is to use it deliberately:
- Experiment with expensive weapons: a half-price FAL or AMR 50 is the cheapest lesson you will ever buy in what they feel like.
- Do not hoard: cash is not discounted, only purchases. The window rewards spending, not saving.
- Level roles evenly through it: because your WARDOG level is the sum of all six role levels, and early levels are cheap, a few matches per role stretches the window further.
Unlock Fees vs Your Wallet
High-tier weapons carry one-time unlock fees in the $100,000–$200,000 range — paid once, then the per-life price after. Two rules keep this sane: never spend an unlock fee that drops you below the reserve line (an unlocked gun you cannot afford to lose is useless), and time big unlocks for after a good income session, not before one. The unlock fee is an investment in future kits — the per-life price is what you actually live on.
Death Is a Line Item
The game’s own beginner tip says it: "dying rich is dying anyway." Every life, ask what this kit is supposed to achieve. A budget kit that wins a fight is profit; a full kit that dies on a spawn-camp is a donation. The math that makes this concrete:
- Expected deaths per match: a $10,000 wallet funds about 3 mid-tier lives. Plan the match around that, not around a streak.
- Loss budgeting: if a $6,500 FAL life has a coin-flip chance of dying before it pays back, that is a ~$3,250 expected loss per attempt. The M4 at $2,800 halves the risk.
- Recovery route: when the bank breaks, run the free-starter kit and spend the match on logistics income — two pallet loops rebuild a mid-tier bank.
Vehicles: The Big Expense
Vehicles cost cash per spawn, and losing one hurts the bank the way losing a full kit does. The offset: drivers earn whenever someone spawns on their vehicle, transport pilots earn per passenger and per supply drop, and the supply loop pays for the vehicle while it works. Buy vehicles when they have a job — a truck on the pallet loop is income, a tank parked at the FOB is a target.
Pre-Wipe Planning
Wipes convert leftover cash into Gold Bars at the day’s exchange rate — automatically, and the rate shifts daily. Gold is permanent (cosmetics and Black Market purchases survive wipes); cash is not. Two consequences:
- Do not sit on a huge cash pile near season end: the conversion rate is whatever it is that day. Cash is meant to be spent on the season you are playing.
- Gold-first purchases: anything bought with Gold Bars is the only gear that truly survives. When a wipe is announced, cash into gear you will use now, gold into things that last (see Wipe & Seasons and the Vault).
