WARDOGS Engine & System Requirements

WARDOGS is built on Unreal Engine 5 using BULKHEAD’s in-house "War Tech Framework" tooling. This page covers the engine, the Engine.ini config file and launch options, the official system requirements, and the performance targets BULKHEAD tunes for.

Engine

WARDOGS runs on Unreal Engine 5, with BULKHEAD’s proprietary War Tech Framework layered on top — the studio’s internal tooling for realistic FPS development, built up since Battalion 1944.

Performance Reality

A 100-player match with destructible buildings is CPU-heavy — expect frame dips in big fights regardless of GPU. The graphics presets run from "Potato" to "Overkill" (see the settings guide).

Engine.ini & Config Tweaks

The config file lives at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wardogs\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\Engine.ini (note: WindowsClient, not the usual Windows folder). Run the game once to generate it. BULKHEAD does not document ini tweaks, so everything here is community-sourced and unofficial:

Launch Options & Console

There is no official launch-option list from BULKHEAD or Team17, and no legitimate dev console commands have been found. The community-tested Steam launch options (build 0.1.2, author-tested, not official) are:

Launch optionWhat it does
-nogpucrashdebuggingDisables GPU crash debugging overhead
-NoAnalyticsDisables telemetry/analytics
-fullscreen / -windowedForces fullscreen or windowed mode
-Res=WxH -ForceResForces a resolution (e.g. -Res=1920x1080)
-nosoundLaunches without audio
-logWrites a log file for troubleshooting
-corelimit=NLimits CPU core usage (e.g. -corelimit=4)
-dx11DX11 mode — a community workaround for DX12 crashes; results are mixed, some players report no effect
Config and launch-option sections verified Oct 8, 2026 against the Nexus mod pages, VGtimes and KosGuides (community-tested list, build 0.1.2). All of it is unofficial — apply at your own risk, and back up your ini files first.
